Inspection, process control and design verification

Because Quality matters to us

Chief Mold has an established design verification and reliability lab on site to support your needed compliance and document the results. Some customers require a variety of substances be tested on their product from suntan lotion to harsh abrasive cleaners to ensure  the handling of the final device meets the consumer’s expectations. Logos can be designed and tested to ensure they are not rubbed off in regular use or run to failure to see what limits need to be set. We have provided insertion tests on OBD connectors and assemblies and run a variety of stress and drop tests to show the breaking points. Many customers rely on our lab to provide them needed documentation to help them certify with various agencies within their own market.

On production orders we collect and review CPK data to assure processes are within control and stay within the limits of the specifications defined. Each mold and cavity is uniquely identified along with production dates and times if applicable to track as needed. With parts being shipped not only to locations within China but to other continents it is important to maintain quality as it saves money making the part correct each and every time.

Operators are provided work instructions, quality guidelines and the tools to review an appropriate sampling of the production run. This helps to ensure that if a problem occurs it is fixed as soon as possible and early in the process. Keeping scrap low helps us reduce costs to the customer. These principles not only apply to molding but also to decoration, painting and assembly. Each operator has the ability and the responsibility to stop production if they see an area that needs attention.

In the end, it’s important to us to assure your part meets your specification, performs as you expected and is usable from the first production part to the last production part. Quality isn’t costly but the cost of buying scrap from undisciplined and immature “low end” suppliers will cost more in the long run.
